BALLYMENA United put seven goals past Ballymoney United without reply at a wet Riada Stadium on Saturday afternoon as they continued their pre-season schedule.

Prior to kick-off, the Braidmen announced the double signing of Caleb Crawford and Fiontan O'Boyle, and whilst the latter began the match on the bench, the former was given an early start.

Just like in Limavady a week ago, Jim Ervin's men started quickly and had two goals in the opening five minutes. First, a corner was turned home by Trialist B, then a minute later Donal Rocks picked the ball up on halfway and drove forward through the half before finishing into the bottom corner.

With thirty-three minutes gone United had a third when Johnny McMurray closed down the Ballymoney 'keeper and took the ball off him, giving McMurray the easiest of goals to add to his pre-season tally.

There was still time for a fourth before the break, as this time Michael Place picked the ball up and cut inside on his left, before firing home.
In the second half Ballymena added goals five, six and seven. Their fifth came ten minutes into the half when Rocks and Sean Graham combined well, before the ball came to McMurray for his second.

On the hour mark Lewis Tennant was introduced, as was O'Boyle, for his first minutes in Sky Blue. With seventeen minutes to go Alex Gawne got his first goal since making the move from Coleraine as he fired home on his left foot, and in added time Ryan Waide made it seven. After grabbing a hat-trick last time the teams met, Waide got on the end of a fine Tennant through ball and rounded the 'keeper to score, as the Sky Blues got plenty of minutes and goals in their second pre-season tie.
