Larne:
After an excellent season last year, Larne qualified for the Europe Conference League where they defeated both Bala Town and Aarhus over two legs, ultimately going out to Portuguese side Pacos de Ferreira.

Winning 5 of their league games so far this season, drawing one and losing 2 leaves them 3rd in the table on 16 points, just 4 behind leaders Cliftonville.

They've also beaten Limavady United at home in the BetMcLean League Cup, but were thrown out of the competition after fielding an ineligible player. In the Toals Co Antrim Shield they overcame Glentoran with a 2-1 home victory, setting up this derby game against Ballymena.
Ballymena United:
It's been a tough start to the season for the Sky Blues, who now sit in 9th place after 2 wins, a draw and 5 defeats. This leaaves us 4 points behind 8th placed Glenavon with a game in hand.

The BetMcLean League Cup has been favourable to United, who beat Annagh United 4-2 away from home in the 2nd round and Crusaders in the 3rd round last Wednesday evening, the quarter-final throwing up a home tie against either Linfield or PSNI.

A 2-0 home win over Harland & Wolff Welders was needed to take us through to face Larne in the quarter-finals of the Toals Co Antrim Shield.
