BALLYMENA United host Bluefin Sport Premier Intermediate League side PSNI in the last sixteen of the Sadler's Peaky Blinder Irish Cup on Saturday afternoon, kicking off at 3:00pm.
The only competitive game between the sides on record was a 1st round Country Antrim Shield fixture in March 1991, with PSNI known as RUC. The game ended in a 3-3 draw with goals from Ian Hamilton, Neil Candlish and Kevin Lenaghan, United losing 4-1 on penalties.
PSNI were relegated to the Bluefin Sport Premier Intermediate League at the end of last season which, due to the regulations surrounding the Covid pandemic, was eventually cancelled, meaning they've missed a full season of games.

They were originally scheduled to face Institute in the first round of the Sadler's Peaky Blinder Irish Cup, but were given a bye when the North-West side withdrew.
Ballymena United:
Fortunately the Danske Bank Premiership was allowed to go ahead this season, and the Sky Blues are currently in a chase for the 7th place spot and a chance of European qualification via the end of season playoffs. The last 3 games have resulted in United wins, with 11 goals for and 2 against.

Last Saturday Ballymena hosted Portadown in the first round of the Sadler's Peaky Blinder Irish Cup and ran out 4-1 winners thanks to goals from Paul McElroy, Ryan Waide (2) and a Seamus McCartan penalty.

The Sky Blues have been massively improved in recent games as a lot of players have returned from injury and should go in to this game expecting a win. PSNI are an unknown quantity this season though and will be looking to cause an upset.
