BALLYMENA United host Portadown in the 1st round of this season's Sadler's Peaky Blinder Irish Cup on Tuesday evening.
The last meeting between the sides was at the Showgrounds in March, United running out 2-1 winners thanks to goals from Seamus McCartan and Paul McElroy.

Since the defeat to United in March, the Ports have won 5 games and lost 6, with their last game a 3-1 victory away to Warrenpoint Town on Saturday in the Danske Bank Premiership.

Portadown reached the 5th round of the Sadler's Peaky Blinder Irish Cup last season, losing 5-4 on penalties to Glentoran at The Oval after the score was 1-1 after 90 minutes and 2-2 after extra-time.

In the same period the Sky Blues have won 3 games, drawn 3 and lost 4, most recently going down 2-1 to Coleraine on Saturday afternoon in the Danske Bank Premiership.

With wins over Crumlin Star, Warrenpoint Town, Ballinamallard United and Coleraine last season, United made it to the final of the Irish Cup where they faced Glentoran in front of a limited crowd at the National Stadium. After Paul O'Neill had opened the scoring in the first half, Cathair Friel levelled matters just after half-time, the game ending up going to extra-time, David McDaid grabbing the winner just 5 minutes from the end of the game.
