Coleraine Match Preview
Uploaded Thursday, 15th Oct, 2020 at 18:45

BALLYMENA United get their 2020/21 Danske Bank Premiership underway with a derby trip to Coleraine.
The last time the sides met was in the semi-final of the Sadler's Peaky Blinder Irish Cup in July, the game ending in a 1-1 draw after extra-time with Eoin Bradley scoring at the end of the first half, and Kenneth Kane equalising in the 94th minute. United won 3-1 on penalties, thanks to Ben Doherty sending his effort high over the bar after Steven McCullough had put the Sky Blues ahead.

Coleraine:
The Bannsiders finished second in the Danske Bank Premiership last season, and after seeing off La Fiorita and Maribor Kiev, were ultimately knocked out of the Europa League at the second qualifying round, drawing 2-2 with Scottish side Motherwell who went on to score all of their penalties while Coleraine failed to convert any of theirs.
Ballymena United:
After finishing second in the league in 2018/19, it was a very disappointing campaign for United last season, finishing in 10th spot when the curtain came down because of the outbreak of Covid-19. There were also two very tough to take final defeats, losing 2-1 to Cliftonville in the final of the Toals Co Antrim Shield after Thomas Maguire and Ryan Curran in injury time, and losing 2-1 to Glentoran in the Sadler's Peaky Blinder Irish Cup final after Robbie McDaid scored an extra-time goal with just 5 minutes to go.
Important information for all supporters:
No away fans will be allowed into the game, but the game will be streamed live on the BBC Sport NI website and BBC iPlayer.
Match Officials:
To Be Confirmed
Match Information:
Kick off is 7:45pm.
With manager David Jeffrey making several changes to the squad over the summer, United players are raring to go, but Coleraine will be equally eager to go one better than last seasons second placed finish. It's going to be tough for the supporters, missing out on what is both the first game of the season and the first derby game of the season, but consolation can be found watching the streams provided by BBC NI. We know you'll be at home cheering on YOUR team though - Come On Sky Blues!
