BEFORE Saturday's match with Carrick Rangers the club hosted a 20th anniversary lunch for Sports Bond. Agents present and past came together to mark this significant milestone in its history.
Joining the agents were guests Chairman John Taggart, Director Davy Blair and Bill Parkinson. All enjoyed an excellent hot fork Buffet meal served up by Iris's Farmhouse cuisine. A special anniversary cake had been created by Joanne Purdey of The Byres Bakehouse.
Promoter Brian Thompson mentioned that the last 20 years had left him with great memories and that the agents were amongst the best friends anyone could have hoped for. He singled out the contribution of Bill Parkinson who had provided great accounting support during the 20 years. He also mentioned that all agents at heart did their work for the club and that the number of scarves on display was testament to this.
Chairman John Taggart congratulated all for Sports Bond success and noted that the revenue raised over the years had gone to pay for significant operating costs for the club. A special toast to absent friends, was given to those agents who sadly were no longer with us. The Chairman remarked that he had known most of them as dedicated Ballymena United supporters. He mentioned great effort had been put in from the Promoter, Sports Bond administrators and agents over the years.
As the get together came to an end there was a great feeling of bonhomie amongst all as they looked forward to the next chapter of the Sports Bond story.
A Magic win on Sports Bond
In the months of October we ran the magic member promotion to encourage agents to recruit new members. In that month Maurice Anderson registered Ann Rock (A5687) as a new member and a Magic member. Now this week Ann won a major £50 and in doing so wins Maurice a Magic member bonus of £50. Congratulations to both. Ann's late husband was Bertie Rock a lifelong Ballymena United supporter so we are delighted to have Ann as a winner due to that connection. Ann also celebrated her birthday last week so £50 is a nice birthday present.
It was another great week for lady members as Diana McChrystal (A2135) was also a £50 major winner on the agency of Patricia Thompson. Diana with husband Vincent has been attending Ballymena United matches for many years and we believe this is her second win.
In the minor £10 winners section another win for Denise McNinch (A6484) who is the sister in law to agent Tommy Patterson. The only male member to have a win this week was Davy Gordon (B3817) at the Hawthorn Inn. Davy is a former £1000 Jackpot winner and has won multiple times on Sports Bond.
Now a big jackpot win is possible still as no jackpot was won with the numbers 1, 2, 11, and 27. The Jackpot for this week is £850.
We extend our deepest sympathy from Sports Bond and Ballymena United to Sports Bond agent Reid McAuley on the passing of his grandfather Eric Greenwood. We also pass on our deepest sympathy to his mum Roberta and Margaret Greenwood, Eric's wife. Eric was a great Ballymena United supporter throughout his life and Reid and his grandfather were a fixture home and away over the years.
We also extend our sympathy to Sports Bond member Jimmy Adair on the sad passing of his partner Amanda. Jimmy is a member on Tommy Pattersons agency.
Birthday greetings to Ann Rock who was a major £50 winner last week she had a birthday celebration last week. This week sees Sports Bond member William McCombe celebrate his birthday on Tuesday. Best wishes to him.
The World Cup qualifying match between Northern Ireland and Italy had a first score promotion and produced 3 winners. The winning card was a no score card and the first winner to call in was Stephen Lynn at the Moby Chip in Cullybackey. Stephen wins £30. Sports Bond agent Maurice Anderson also had a winning card and picked up his £30 at the Sports Bond anniversary lunch on Saturday. Also collecting £30 at the game on Saturday was the third winner and that was Matthew Whyte. Well done to all and all three are Sports Bond members.
