OVER the years we have had some remarkable stories on Sports Bond, however this week had a story which was a first for Sports Bond.
All of this weeks winners are huge Ballymena United fans, however that is not unusual. Among our membership we have a number of members in England and Scotland, however this summer we received an email from Gibson Glavin from Sherwood Park in Alberta. Gibson has family connections with the Mid Antrim area and has been a frequent visitor over the years and loves coming to Northern Ireland. He has followed the fortunes of Ballymena United for many years and wanted to become more involved. After a period of correspondence Gibson is a player shirt sponsor of Ryan Waide and he also became a Sports Bond member as a yearly payer. This week Gibson Glavin (A0256) was a £10 minor winner and created a new Sports Bond record as our furthest winner on the weekly draw a remarkable statistic. We all hope when this coronavirus pandemic is over Gibson will once again visit these shores and of course visit the Showgrounds as our special guest all the way from Alberta. Gibson is also a season ticket holder of Edmonton FC and used to watch former Sky Blue star Albert Watson play for them for a number of seasons. Thanks Gibson for your support and next time if you win a £1000 Jackpot it will help towards your flight!
The two major £50 winners this week are big Ballymena supporters. A first win on Sports Bond for Tommy Kerr (A3647). Tommy is a founder member of the Clough Rangers Supporters Club which is respected and cherished throughout the Rangers network of supporters clubs, however he is also a season ticket holder at the Showgrounds and we are delighted of his first win. In Randalstown Billy Scott (B5986) was a £50 major winner on the agency of Alastair Shaw. This is the fourth week in a row Alastair has had a winner. Up to this week it was all minor winners but Billy made it a major winner. Both Billy and brother Tommy are members of Sports Bond and have been following the fortunes of Ballymena since their youth.
The remaining minor winner this week is from Harryville and is former barber Billy McCartney (A0733). Billy has been a Sports Bond member for many many years and still going strong.
No jackpot won with the numbers 1, 6, 13, and 17 and the jackpot is £350 for this week.
Good to hear that William McCombe is now out of hospital after surgery. Also, birthday greetings to Mary Galbraith. Both are members on Maurice Anderson's agency.
New Year Draw
The distribution for this years festive draw continues and with the recent cold weather what better an opportunity to win the first prize of 500 litres of home heating oil, sponsored and delivered by McCurdy fuels. In this difficult time please support support the draw by selling as many ballots as possible. Each year it is always interesting to see who sends their stubs back first and the winner of that accolade this year is Jimmy McClean of Sunningdale Park a huge Sky Blue fan.
Ballymena United Calendar 2021
The current pandemic has presented all sorts of problems to the club. At one time with a lack of games it seemed that the annual calendar which is much sough after could be a casualty. However thanks to Evan Logan, George Moore and Ballyprint the calendar will be available soon. However Brian Thompson has requested pre-orders either by phone or text on 07831 803970, or by email on firstname.lastname@example.org. A launch date for the calendar in the Tower Centre as normal will be announced soon. The Calendar will be priced at £6 or 2 for £10.
