BALLYMENA United are saddened to hear of the passing in Canada of former player Billy Richardson. The club extends our deepest sympathies to Billy's family and friends at this sad time.

Signed by Alex Parker in October 1969, he made his debut against Ards that November in the Irish League, losing 2-1 at Ballymena Showgrounds. He went to play the majority of games in the remainder of the 1969/1970 season at full back.
He started in the 1970 Irish Cup Final defeat to Linfield at Solitude in a team which included Jim Platt (NI international goalkeeper), Roy Torrens (Ireland Cricket Manager) and Eddie Russell (joint all time Ballymena appearance record holder).

Alex McCrae returned as manager in summer of 1970 and kept Williamson as first choice full back, however injury kept him out between October and March but started and ended the season in the starting eleven.
His last game was County Antrim Shield quarter final defeat to Crusaders before being released in summer of 1971.
