BALLYMENA United midfielder Jack Henderson has left the club to return to the United States. The 22-year-old midfielder made 49 appearances, scoring once at home to Cliftonville.
Jack signs for a local club in Mississippi as he resumes his University studies there. Manager David Jeffrey praised him and leaves with our best wishes, "Jack wanted to finish studies in America, in a nutshell he couldn't transfer his credits over to here, which left him with the option of going back there to finish and that opportunity has arisen for him. The club clearly would not stand in the way of this and we've released him from the remainder of his contract with our very best wishes.
We want to thank him for his hard work and effort, a consummate professional who had this season really grasped regular football here. We're proud of the contribution he made here and we would like to think that we’ve helped his development as much as he's helped the club."
Jack spoke of his own pride at representing the Sky Blues, "It wasn't an easy decision and one I did not take lightly at all, but I am heading back to America and have signed for a club in Mississippi. The past two years at this special club I have loved every second of, I have never been welcomed into a football club as much as I have been at Ballymena United, not just by players, David and the coaching staff but by the fans as well.
I have never experienced being apart of such a special club on and off the pitch but all I can say is thank you. I would just like to thank David and Bryan for giving me the opportunity to play for such a big club and in front of a special bunch of fans week in week out and I wish you all nothing but the best. My highlight of my time here would have to be playing in front of our fans in the Irish Cup final, although we didn't get the outcome we wanted, that day and the memories we made will stay with me forever."
Jack finished with a message for the club ahead of the Irish Cup Final, "Get behind the boys in this years final, we need our 12th man. It's time to make up for last year. Thanks for the memories sky blues, I'll see you all soon."
