Joseph McCready makes Dungannon move

BALLYMENA United can confirm that Joseph McCready has joined Dungannon Swifts for an undisclosed fee. The striker, who signed in January 2020, made 27 appearances and contributed 5 goals.
Manager David Jeffrey explained the timeline of events, "Dean Shiels made an enquiry about Joe last week. Although he had a year left on his contract we obviously made him aware of this, and Joe wanted to have the opportunity to discuss things with them. He felt that with just a year left on his contract here, in the longer term it would be better for himself to move to Dungannon, and so Joe has moved for an undisclosed fee."
In terms of transfer incoming the Boss commented that, "Whilst there have been a number of departures from the Showgrounds, don't let that fool that there isn't an immense amount of work going on to replenish the squad. What we are able to do is to maximise our budget, and our squad space given the league limits in the number of player allowed over 21, outside of homegrown players. It is a challenging time for us, that is no doubt, and people will see what the top clubs are doing but we know where we want to get to and we are working away in the background on that. The same could have been said this time last year, and we went on to add the likes of McCartan, McElroy, Waide and Redman to the squad, so we are certainly in no panic mode."
