Ballymena United can confirm that Jonathan Addis will leave the club now at the expiration of his contract.
The 28-year-old centre half recently reached his century of appearances having signed in July 2018.
Manager David Jeffrey broke the news after further discussions with Addis this evening, "Jonathan and I have had several conversations of late with regard his future, and very much focusing on what was best for him. During these discussions, and given the stage that Jonathan is at, he feels that his future lies away from Ballymena. We both would have wanted that not to be the case, but sometimes in football it's not about making right or wrong choices, sometimes a pathway becomes clear and decisions just happen.
Jonathan has absolutely thoroughly enjoyed his time at Ballymena since his arrival from Glentoran and he clearly has served our club well. As well as being a talented footballer, as a gentleman he is committed, honourable, and someone that we could always rely on. You couldn't ask for a stronger character both on and off the field.
It is simply a case that our conversations clarified for Jonathan and us that his future was going to be away from Ballymena, and so we would like to take this opportunity to thank Jonathan for his hard work and diligence and quite simply for being the gentleman that he is, and what he brought to the club during his time here."
