BALLYMENA United can confirm that after discussions this evening, four players will seek to continue their football careers elsewhere.
Our skipper Jim Ervin, our current longest serving player Anthony Kane, Ryan Harpur and James Knowles depart the club with the best of wishes from the manager, staff and supporters.
Manager David Jeffrey reflected on the evening, "We had conversations with a number of players out of contract this evening. The primary purpose was to see how we can go forward in the best interests of them as individuals and for the club. The talent, ability, commitment, dedication and application is not in question of any of the players, these conversations are about looking at what is best for all parties.
Bryan and I would like to commend the players on their appreciation and thanks to ourselves and everyone associated with the club for their time here. Each of these players will be made very welcome on any occasion that they return to Ballymena. A sincere thank you from Bryan and myself and we wish them all the very best, and God's richest blessings for the next chapter of their career."
Following this brief announcement, we will pay individual tributes to each of the players over the coming days.
