Tony off the mark on Sports Bond
Uploaded Sunday, 3rd Jan, 2021 at 22:53

TONY McCallum has been a life long Ballymena United supporter and in recent years he has been an excellent sponsor of the club through his business TM Flooring based on Mill Street.
Back in August he took another step in his commitment to the club by becoming a Sports Bond agent and created a friends and family agency run from TM Flooring. However it has taken until the last draw of 2020 for Tony to record a win for one of his members. So we were all delighted to see Declan O'Boyle (A2879) win a £50 major win. Declan accompanies Tony and his son John To Ballymena United fixtures and are all season ticket holders and Declan has been a £50 major winner before on another agency. Congratulations to them both and Tony you are now off the mark at last.

A first time winner on the agency of Maurice Anderson and it is Nathan Blair (A0798). Nathan has been a member for 18 months and picks up £50. Well done to Nathan who was brought on by direct canvassing.

In the £10 minor section Reece Drain had a £10 winner with Sharon Ferguson (A8168). Our last prize winner of 2020 was Frazer Brown (A2866). Now for those who are not aware that in our Sports Bond members we have a couple of the canine variety and Frazier Brown is actually David Brown's dog! To be fair Frazer has had his success on Sports Bond and this is his 2nd £10 win and he has also won £50 previously.

No jackpot for the New year was won and the jackpot is £550 for this week as the numbers 8, 9, 10, and 24 were not allocated.

Can we just wish a Happy New Year to all our Sports Bond agents and members.
Agents News
Sports Bond was shocked to learn of the hospitalisation of Alan Henry. Alan, a true Ballymena United supporter over the years, was also a Sports Bond agent at the Fairhill Bar. Ahoghill in our early years and is still a member on the agency of Margaret Downey. We ask all our members and supporters to keep Alan and his family in their thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

Congratulations to Sports Bond member Julie McDowell who gave birth to a baby just before the New Year.
New Years Draw 2021
This years draw with the current pandemic had many challenges including the postponement of the Boxing Day fixture. On Saturday the challenge was how would the draw be undertaken. It was decided that the draw would be taken around the various sponsors and allow them the opportunity to draw our the prize winners.

First stop was McCurdy Fuels who sponsored the first prize of 500 litres. Jaimie McCurdy performed the draw and the winner was Jonathan Downey (0082). Jonathan is the son of Sports Bond agent Margaret Downey who incredibly sold 13 books of ballots (£130).

As a gesture of recognition of this outstanding feat Margaret was asked to perform the draw of the second prize on behalf of Sports Bond. Margaret duly obliged and drew out a ticket in the name of Norris McIntyre (1086) of Ballymoney. This ticket was sold by Shaun O'Neill of the Ballymena Guardian.

Third prize was drawn by Tony McCallum of TM Flooring and the winner was Johnny Smith (0028) of Garvagh. The ticket was sold by Tommy Patterson.

Fourth and Fifth prizes were both sold by Brenda Russell, a new seller in our ranks this year. Fourth prize was drawn by Nigel McIlwrath on behalf of the Castle Kitchen and Bar. The winner was Billy Eagleson (1921).
