Statement from the Board of Ballymena United Football Club
Uploaded Wednesday, 14th Oct, 2020 at 21:27

THE Board of Ballymena United met this evening to re-consider the ticketing for the season ahead.
On behalf of the board this statement was issued, 'the financial security of the club falls on the responsibility of the board of directors at Ballymena United football club. Along with this responsibility comes the requirement to make difficult decisions, and in terms of how we proceed in the current time there is no more difficult a decision to reach. This is due to the fact that no matter how we proceed people will be disappointed.
The problem facing the club is this, we have a maximum of 600 people allowed into the stadium, this includes players, staff, NIFL and IFA officials, media and directors of both clubs and medical staff. Simply put, due to social distancing there are 160 spaces in the ground that can be sold for tickets, these spaces can be sold as singles or groups of up to six. The basic maths is that if 160 individuals purchase tickets then we cannot bring any more into the ground, if we sold only pairs of tickets then we'd be able to bring 320 supporters in, etc.
We know from analysis data the 90% of our current season ticket holders are individuals from different households, and therefore it is anticipated that a priority scheme for current holders will result in a dramatically reduced capacity. However, we are aware that our home stand in normal times is full of families, social groups, etc, who could purchase a group of tickets together in these covid times.
Therefore the club has made two significant decisions this evening to enable as many supporters to enjoy football this season.
Firstly; we are actively pursuing a streaming service on a pay per view basis for home matches outside of those shown on BBC or Sky. This will allow BUFC supporters across the globe to access games from the comfort of their homes. It has also hoped this will ease the fact that we know all supporters won't be able to attend this season.
Secondly; the club have decided that tomorrow (Thursday) evening will be an open ticket sale for all supporters, with priority given to households and social groups in a bubble. From 6:30pm to 7:30pm we will accept applications for groups of 3+ supporters. If there are remaining tickets for individuals and pairs, they will go on sale from 7:30pm. The Club will consult with supporters clubs about any social bubbles that may exist within their ranks.
We are acutely aware, and need to make supporters aware that there will be a point at which the ground will be full and we will have to turn people away. This will cause disappointment, but for the financial viability of matches we need to enable as many people to access matches as possible.
Attached below is the form to fill out and bring with you to speed up the process. Payment for tickets must be brought on the night, please bring exact cash or card payments are accepted.'
