Sports Bond Success Direct to Sky Blue Fans
Uploaded Monday, 10th Aug, 2020 at 08:46

WHILST the Sports Bond agent network is the backbone of the weekly draw, more and more members are paying by standing order or by cheque directly.
This week was unique as only one winner was by an agency based member. Like last week we also saw that two former agents were Sports Bond winners. Andrew Leacock (A4316) was a Sports Bond agent before he went off to university in Scotland. He rejoined Sports Bond a few years ago and is a regular at the showgrounds. This week he was a £50 major winner. Also a Sports Bond agent was Phillip Millar (A7884) of Randalstown. Philip is also a regular at the showgrounds and this week was a £10 minor winner. Both pay by standing order. James Gillis (A8840), a sky blue now resident in Larne, has been a previous major winner. James is also a standing order member and picks up another £50.

Sylvia Allen (A1983) has also been a previous winner and is a member on the Seven Towers agency of Tommy Patterson. Sylvia was a £10 minor winner this week.

Jackpot numbers of 1, 8, 9 and 10, very low numbers, saw no Jackpot allocated. The Jackpot this week is £450.
Agent News
We have been paying respect to our frontline NHS heroes who are Sports Bond members. This week we salute Sports Bond member Mary Crilly who is a surgical nurse in the Royal Victoria, Belfast. Mary has been a member for many years. Also we acknowledge Ann Donald, wife of Ballymena United legend Alex Donald, Ann has been working in the radiography department for over 20 years and is now based in our new Ballymena Health Centre.

Sympathy is expressed to member Mary Johnston who was recently bereaved of her sister in law.
First Score
First Score winner Trevor Robinson was indeed celebrating his First Score win for the Irish Cup Final. When we checked our records we confirmed that Trevor had won back in December and as this was his 2nd win for the season First Score rules dictate that Trevor win £60! Don't forget this was the culmination of the 2019/20 season. Nice one Trevor, very deserved. Two First Scores will go out this week.
Shave of Hope
Friday saw the culmination of Brian Thompsons Shave of Hope campaign for BraveheartsNI. The venue was the Turkish Barbers on Broughshane. There to see the deed done were Shealyn from BraveheartsNI and Betty Shaw, a big Ballymena United supporter and a sponsor for the occasion. The shave was undertaken by proprietor Erol Gok who is a master of the practice and there was much humour and photos taken. Like a lot of men during lockdown Brian had grown a beard, however, he wanted to continue his fundraising for BraveheartsNI and put his period of lockdown to good use. He is still collecting donations and sponsorship and hopes to arrive at a final figure soon. This was a very different charity event from his previous Walks of Hope as collections were done on route and at football grounds.

Brian is indebted to friends, family and Ballymena supporters and supporter clubs for their generosity. The Covid pandemic has decimated fundraising for many charities however he was in awe of the work undertaken by Clare Caulfield and BraveheartsNI during the lockdown where many Bravehearts had to shield.

Many thanks to Erol Gok for undertaking this promotion for Bravehearts free of charge, he is a real master of his trade. It was a great experience, thanks to Betty and Shealyn for their support but most of all a huge thanks to you all who supported the Shave of Hope.
