BALLYMENA United got their pre-season friendlies underway with a 1-0 win over Cardiff Met in Belfast on Friday night.
A single strike by Cathair Friel from the penalty spot in the 14th minute was the only goal of the game at Queen's University Playing Fields tonight.
Both sides had decent chances to score during a very cagey affair, but nobody else could find the back of the net.
Ballymena United face another Welsh side next Saturday afternoon when they host Barry Town United at Dixon Park, Ballyclare, kicking off at 1:00pm.
