At the start of the second half Thompson went close again, but sent it just wide. He took his time, but finally Thompson grabbed a goal to put United ahead, scoring for the third time in as many games and, ultimately, securing the win.

Next up for Ballymena United is our last pre-season friendly when we travel to Shamrock Park on Saturday to face Portadown, kicking off at 3:00pm. The following weekend sees the start of the Danske Bank Premiership with a home tie against Crusaders on Friday 11th August at 7:45pm.
