BALLYMENA United took an early lead in the game through a Johnny McMurray penalty, but let in a late equaliser and had to settle for a draw.
It took only 6 minutes for United to take the lead at Inver Park, Johnny McMurray brought down by Ryan Arthur in the box and stepping up to score from the spot. 10 minutes later Kyle McVey was taken off with a head injury and replaced by Kyle Crawford. On 36 minutes United won another penalty after Daniel Wilson handled a cross from Conor McCluskey, but Larne keeper Dylan McRandal saved from McMurray who shot to the same side as the penalty he scored.

With 66 minutes gone a Jason Johnstone slip was pounced upon by Larne, but Kyle Crawford made a fantastic tackle to prevent an equaliser.
