Linfield:
Despite some indifferent form this season, Linfield went back to the top of the table in their last game, a 2-1 win at Warrenpoint Town, leaving them sitting 4 points ahead of Coleraine and Glentoran, 5 ahead of Crusaders and 6 ahead of Cliftonville.

The Blues have strengthened in the winter transfer window, bringing in Kyle McClean (St Johnstone) and Ethan Boyle (Shamrock Rovers).
Ballymena United:
Despite beating Warrenpoint Town 2-1 at Milltown Playing Fields just under a fortnight ago in the 6th round of the Sadler's Peaky Blinder Irish Cup, league form hasn't improved, with the Sky Blues now having lost 6 in a row, dropping down to 9th place, just 10 points clear of the bottom 2 with a game in hand.

United have brought in former player Kyle Owens on loan from Crusaders until the end of the season and added Joe McCready to their squad from Institute, while releasing Declan Carville, Shane McGinty, Ryan Mayse, and Fra Nolan.
