Crumlin Star Match Preview
Uploaded Friday, 3rd Jan, 2020 at 15:59

BALLYMENA United get their Sadler's Peaky Blinder Irish Cup campaign underway on Saturday afternoon when they host Crumlin Star at the Showgrounds in the fifth round.
The sides met in the Irish Cup at the same stage in 2015, United easing to a 4-0 victory with goals from Matthew Tipton, Gary McCutcheon and Darren Boyce (2).
Crumlin Star:
The North Belfast side has reached the fifth round in four of the last five seasons and beat Bluefin Sport Championship side Loughgall 4-1 in the fifth round last season, losing to Larne 3-1 in the sixth round.

They've won 8 out of 8 games in their league campaign, and sit third in the Northern Amateur Football League Premier Division with a game in hand over the two sides above them, their latest game on Saturday 28th December seeing them defeat Killyleagh YC 3-0 away from home. They won both the Northern Amateur Football League Premier Division and the Intermediate Cup last season, beating Queen's University 1-0 in the final in May.
Ballymena United:
Compared to last season when United finished 2nd in the Danske Bank Premiership, this season has been a struggle without a settled side due to injuries and suspensions. With 7 wins, 5 draws and 12 defeats in the league, it looks increasingly unlikely that a top 6 place can be reached, with Larne 9 points ahead, a game in hand and only 9 matches until the league splits.

On New Years Day, the Sky Blues put in an impressive display against Larne, ultimately losing 3-2 after a late goal from Conor McKendry. The players will have taken confidence in their performance, but will know The Star are not to be underestimated.
Match Programme:
Due to the printers being closed for the whole Christmas period, there will unfortunately be no match programme for this game.
Match Officials:
Referee: Mark Dillon. Assistant 1: George Argyropoulos. Assistant 2: Matthew Thornbury.
Match Information:
Admission of £10 for adults and £6 concession rate is payable at the gate.

Season Tickets and Youth Academy Passes etc. aren't valid for this game.

Kick off is 3:00pm.

If the score is level after 90 minutes, two 15-minute periods of extra-time will be played. If the score is level after extra-time, the tie will be decided by a penalty shoot-out.
