BALLYMENA United host Larne in their first Danske Bank Premiership game of 2020 on New Years Day.
The last time the sides met was in November when goals from Jeff Hughes and Lee Lynch (2) secured the points for the visitors at the Showgrounds.
Latest results v Larne (all league unless stated):
Ballymena United 0-3 Larne, Ballymena Showgrounds, 2nd November 2019. Att: 1480
Larne 2-4 Ballymena United, Inver Park, 17th August 2019. Att: 1850
Ballymena United 1-2 Larne, Ballymena Showgrounds, 23th March 2018. (Tennent's Irish Cup quarter-final)
Larne 1-1 Ballymena United, Inver Park, 16th July 2016. (Pre-Season Friendly)
Larne 1-1 (2-3 aet) Ballymena United, Inver Park, 1st December 2015. (Toals Co Antrim Shield semi-final)
Larne 4-3 Ballymena United, Inver Park, 1st August 2015. (Pre-Season Friendly)
The East Antrim side were sitting in 6th spot when we last met them at the Showgrounds, ahead of United on goal difference only, and there they remain, having added wins over Dungannon Swifts, Glenavon, and Warrenpoint Town, draws against Crusaders, Cliftonville, Coleraine and Carrick Rangers, losing only to Linfield and Cliftonville.

They have been cast somewhat adrift by the top 5, sitting 9 points behind 5th placed Crusaders but have a game in hand over the North Belfast side. 7th placed Glenavon have cut the gap between themselves and Larne to 5 points.
Ballymena United:
The Sky Blues have went the opposite direction, dropping down to 8th place, 6 points behind Larne who have a game in hand. United have had wins over Crusaders, Dungannon Swifts and Glenavon and drew with Institute, but the 6 defeats at the hands of Carrick Rangers, Cliftonville, Linfield, Warrenpoint Town, Coleraine and Glentoran have put a massive dent in hopes of a top 6 finish with just 10 games until the league splits.

This Saturday United host Northern Amateur Football League side Crumlin Star in the Sadler's Peaky Blinder Irish Cup 5th round, and also have the Toals Co Antrim Shield Final against Cliftonville at the National Stadium to look forward to on 21st January.
