THE top two teams from last year meet for the first time this season as Ballymena United travel to Belfast to face champions Linfield.
The last time the sides met was in April at the Showgrounds with Linfield running out 1-0 winners thanks to an Andrew Waterworth goal less than a minute into the second half.

After an excellent run in European competition at the start of the season, Linfield still have 3 games in hand over the 3 teams above them in the league. Having won 6 and lost just 2 of their 8 games to date, the Blues are 4th in the table, 8 points behind leaders Crusaders.

It took extra-time for Linfield to defeat Ballinamallard United in the 2nd round of the BetMcLean League Cup, then they went on to beat Dungannon Swifts 4-0 away from home, and will face Cliftonville at home in the quarter-finals. After beating East Belfast 5-1 in the 1st round of the Toals Co Antrim Shield, Linfield were knocked out by Cliftonville on penalties on Tuesday evening.
Ballymena United:
United have played 2 more league games than Linfield, but trail the Belfast side by 2 points, and leaders Crusaders by 10, with a game in hand. 4 wins, 4 draws and 2 defeats mirrors the loss through injury and suspension of key players, but within the last week they've drawn with Crusaders in the league, and defeated them on penalties in the Toals Co Antrim Shield on Tuesday evening.

United beat Newington YC 3-0 in the 2nd round of the BetMcLean League Cup, before going on to beat Dollingstown 6-0 in the 3rd round, setting up a quarter-final tie at home to Crusaders. The Toals Co Antrim Shield seen the Sky Blues beat Dundela 2-1 in the 1st round, then United had a great win over Crusaders on penalties on Tuesday. The draw for the quarter-finals will take place live on Radio Ulster at around 5:30pm on Saturday 26th October.

Tickets are available from Stirling Trophies, Queen Street, Ballymena until 5:30pm on Friday afternoon, and up until midday on Saturday. Tickets will also be available at the National Stadium on Saturday prior to the match, but supporters are advised to purchase in advance to avoid queues on the day.
