Institute:
Since the start of the year, Institute have won only 1 of their league games, losing 3 and going out of the Tennent's Irish Cup at the hands of Warrenpoint Town, leaving them 7th in the Danske Bank Premiership, 10 points behind 6th placed Coleraine.

Having recently lost their manager, Paddy McLaughlin, to Cliftonville, Institute have appointed Kevin Doherty, who was previously part of the backroom team, as interim manager. In the past few days striker Michael McCrudden signed a pre-contract to join Derry City and stated he would no longer play for Institute.
Ballymena United:
After the postponement of their Tennent's Irish Cup at home to Portadown last weekend, United will be eager to get back to action against what will prove to be very tough opposition. Sitting second in the league table, 6 points behind Linfield with a game in hand, the Sky Blues will have been buoyed by the contract extensions by Captain Jim Ervin and Andrew Burns, and the return of defender Albert Watson.
