The last time the sides met was in March 2018 at The Oval, United running out 2-1 winners after Curtis Allen replied to an early Cathair Friel goal, only for Kofi Balmer to pop up and score the winner past Elliot Morris.

Since defeating Institute at home in September, Glentoran have won only 1 out of 8 games, defeating Ards 4-0 at home in the Danske Bank Premiership, leaving them sitting in 7th place with 8 points, 3 behind 6th placed Coleraine.

They were knocked out of the Toals Co Antrim Shield after extra-time by Linfield in October, but managed to overcome Coleraine in the third round of the BetMcLean League Cup and go on to face Crusaders at home in the quarter-finals.
Ballymena United:
It's been a different story for United recently, with 7 wins and 1 draw in their last 8 games. Currently sitting 3rd in the table, 7 points behind Linfield with a game in hand, the Sky Blues will be high in confidence as they go into this game.

With defeats over Ballyclare Comrades and Harland & Wolff Welders, United go on to face Linfield in the semi-finals of the Toals Co Antrim Shield and Ards in the quarter-finals of the BetMcLean League Cup during the next few weeks.
