Newry City Match Preview
Uploaded Friday, 5th Oct, 2018 at 12:42

BALLYMENA United host Newry City in the Danske Bank Premiership on Saturday afternoon - at Ballymena Showgrounds!
The last time United faced Newry City was in April 2011, United winning at the Ballymena Showgrounds with Ryan Berry scoring the only goal of the game on 46 minutes.
Newry City:
After the previous club, Newry City FC, was wound up, a new club was formed, namely Newry City AFC, playing at the same ground, and starting in the Intermediate B Division of the Mid-Ulster League. It's taken them an incredibly short span of time to reach the top flight, and we look forward to welcoming them to the Showgrounds.

So far this season Newry City have won 2, drawn 2 and lost 5 league games, leaving them 8th in the Danske Bank Premiership with 8 points, 3 points behind United who have a game in hand. They host Portadown next week in the 3rd round of the BetMcLean League Cup.
Ballymena United:
After the pitch was relaid during the summer break, and sufficient time was given to get in top condition, United have played all their games away from the Showgrounds this season. With 3 wins, 2 draws and 3 defeats in the league, they sit in 7th spot with 11 points, and face Harland & Wolff Welders in the 3rd round of the BetMcLean League Cup next week.

The Club, from the directors, to the staff, to the players and to the fans, are all looking forward to our first "home" game of the season and hope to see the large support away from home replicated on their return to the Ballymena Showgrounds.
Match Officials:
Referee: Shane Andrews. Assistant 1: George Argyropoulos. Assistant 2: Gavin Hegarty. 4th Official: Niall Gallagher.
Match Information:
Admission is payable at the gate.

Kick off is 3:00pm.
Our management team has done it's homework over the past few weeks, and have stated that Newry are a hard working team who will cause us problems. We all know that the Sky Blues are more than a match for the Co Down side, and urge as many supporters to make your way to the Showgrounds and be our 12th man - Come On Sky Blues!
