Harland & Wolff Welders:
The Welders finished top of Section B in the NIFL Championship last season. They finished with enough points to claim 3rd place but failed to make the top 6 at the time of the league split. They were knocked out of the Tennent's Irish Cup in the 6th round by Ballymena United, and United also dumped them out of the Toals Co Antrim Shield at the 1st round stage. They made the 3rd round of the Northern Ireland League Cup, getting knocked out by Glenavon at Mourneview Park in October.
Ballymena United:
Finishing last season in 4th place in the Danske Bank Premiership ensured a place on the Europa League Play-Off competition, with a 5-2 win over Dungannon Swifts and a 2-1 defeat of Glenavon grabbing a place in this seasons Europa League Qualifiers. The draw proved tough though, United facing Odds BK of Skien, Norway, but the club and fans were delighted with the performances against a well-drilled side well into their domestic season, losing 3-0 away from home and 2-0 in the return leg at Seaview.
