So far this season United have beaten Coleraine twice, 3-0 after extra-time in the Northern Ireland League Cup Semi-Final at Ballymena Showgrounds in mid-December and 2-0 in the league at the same venue on Boxing Day. There have also been two draws between the teams, the first a 2-2 at Coleraine Showgrounds in October and, most recently, last month's 1-1 draw at Ballymena Showgrounds. After Ballymena United beat Coleraine 2-0 on Boxing Day, they went on a streak of 14 games unbeaten, including an away win over Linfield and a home win over Crusaders. The last two games have been a different story however, losing 3-2 to Crusaders at Seaview followed by a 5-1 hammering by Linfield at Coleraine Showgrounds last weekend. They've already secured a place in European competition next season though, and have the Final of the Tennent's Irish Cup against Linfield at the National Stadium next Saturday.
Ballymena United:
After a recent blip in form, United losing 4 games and drawing one in the space of a month, the last two games have seen the Sky Blues in fantastic form, defeating Cliftonville 4-1 at home last weekend and knocking Crusaders off the top spot in the league for the first time since the season start with a 3-0 win at home on Tuesday night. This is a huge game in the chase for a Europa League spot, with United currently set to face Glenavon at home in the play-off semi-final on Monday 8th May, but the chance to face Dungannon Swifts, also at home, remains if the Sky Blues can grab at least a single point more than Cliftonville, who face champions-elect Linfield on Saturday.
