Manager David Jeffrey looking forward to derby game

MANAGER David Jeffrey looks ahead to tomorrow's match against Coleraine and praise for a Ballymena United stalwart who will achieve his 200th appearance tomorrow.
The Derby
I've been involved in many derbies before between Linfield and Glentoran and Ards v Bangor. Ironically during my managing hiatus I commentated on the North Belfast and Mid Ulster derbies and even wrote last year in my column that Ballymena v Coleraine was due to be my next one. Unbeknown to me at the time I would be directly involved in it.
I can honestly say I am immensely looking forward to it. It hit home to me over the past couple of years, more so than ever before, just how much more a derby means to the supporters.
Coleraine come into it off a good comeback against Glenavon and it will be a tough challenge. We are also in a good run of form and this will prove another test for this new set of players. We understand that recent results against Coleraine haven't been what are expected of the club - but this is a new team, a new era, and my players will be going out there under no illusions that they give everything for our shirt and for our supporters.

It is a tremendous feat for Anthony to get to 200 games. He's a player I always admired even before I came to Ballymena, and the opportunity to work with him has been both and honour and a privilege. He's a born winner, a great encourager to others, he does not accept defeat nor second place and works extremely hard in training. His talent is there for all to see but what I admire most about him is that he does not take playing football for granted and he is an astute team player.
Even at 29 he strives to become better with a desire to learn and a hunger to become even stronger on the pitch. I trust that this is only his first 200 games for Ballymena.
