Sports Bond says "Nice One Cyril"
Uploaded Monday, 8th Aug, 2016 at 09:23

THE old Tottenham Hotspur song "Nice One Cyril" was echoing in Orkney Drive this week.
Resident Cyril Surgenor (B5663) had just won a Sports Bond major 50 for the second month in a row, so it was very much 'nice one Cyril'. His agent Brett Thompson also had a 10 minor winner with Victoria Kennedy (A3411), Victoria had also been a 10 winner previously this year. However the hot spot for Sports Bond this week was Kells and Connor. Andrew Boyd had a 50 winner with J Gregg (B1726) and around the corner on the Steeple Road Eric Greenwood (A8433) was a 50 winner for grandson and agent Reid McAuley. Both Eric and J Gregg have been previous 50 winners.

Further up the Steeple Road Steff Shaw (B1575) was a 10 winner for dad Alastair Shaw's agency. Maurice Anderson had a 10 winner with Derek Connor (C7736).

The low numbers of 7, 10, 11 and 12 saw no Jackpot allocated and this week the Jackpot stands at 200.
Agents News
While many Ballymena United supporters were down in the dumps on Saturday at Seaview let's celebrate the fact that for one legendary supporter it was a unique milestone!
On Saturday Willy John McLaughlin, Sports Bond member and lifelong supporter, turned up at Seaview with great grandson Kai to see the first match of a new season, just as he has done for an incredible 70 years!!! In 1946, the first Irish League season since the 2nd World War opened with Ballymena united playing Distillery at the Showgrounds. For Willie John, then aged 14, it was to be the first match of a lifelong obsession. To his credit Willie John was able to name most of the team which had the legendary Matt Redmond in Goals. It is to supporters like Willy John McLaughlin that we who pass the flame of the ages past onto the next generation, the commitment and passion of people like Willy John. Willy John has won many times on Sports Bond but his memories of Ballymena United over 70 years are priceless.
First Score
Our first winner of the season was Eric Montgomery of Pinegrove who had the winning card of 17 minutes. Eric collected 30 for his winning card. Can he go on to win another two in the season? The Community Shield First Score is 32 minutes.
Walk of Hope
Brian Thompson was watching earnestly for the release of the season's fixtures as he prepared for the continuation of his Walk of Hope for Bravehearts NI and other charities. Last season he completed his first with a walk to Carrick. Due to work commitments in Scotland his training has been interrupted and so it may be September before his first attempt as the opening away fixtures did not fall kindly.
