BALLYMENA United are absolutely delighted to be able to confirm that Ross Glendinning will be a Ballymena United player this season after agreeing a loan deal.
Manager David Jeffrey said "Ross brings the experience of close to a hundred games for Linfield, however his circumstances were as such, with the arrival of Roy Carroll, that he may not have the same opportunities. We spoke to Linfield and David Healy and they were keen for Ross to go out to develop even more. We spoke to him and laid out the plans ahead, and as with all players, the opportunity had to be right for us and him.
It very much pleases me to see that Ross has bought into our vision and here he will have more of an opportunity for first team football. Thanks must go to David Healy for affording Ross the freedom to choose Ballymena, and to Linfield who have been very receptive and helpful in this, and all of our dealings this season.
I have to give praise to the back room staff here as the hard work and, once again, the team effort pays off. Particular thanks to Bryan McLoughlin, Gordon McCartney and Dr Patterson for their work on progressing the transfer and the player medical.
We have said all along that it was our intention to build a squad where competition for places will get the best for those who are up for a challenge. In a position like goalkeeper, where you normally have a first and second choice, we have two number ones fighting for top spot. No one is ahead of the other - Alan will provide great competition for Ross and Ross will provide great competition for Alan."
