Monday 27th July v. Coleraine (neutral) - Sadler's Peaky Blinder Irish Cup SF - k.o: 4:00pm

Sadler's Peaky Blinder Irish Cup semi-final

THE past week we appealed against the red card of Jordan Williamson, based on footage from Coleraine FC, on the belief that the ball struck Jordan's stomach.
Having spent all day last Friday putting together our appeal and getting hold of IFA personnel due to the Christmas Holiday period, we submitted the appeal in the late afternoon. Firstly, we felt the ball struck his stomach, and secondly, if the referee felt it struck his arm, then 'the hand/arm is close to the body and does not make the body unnaturally bigger' as per IFAB rules. The laws state that a goalkeeper outside the area is treated no differently to any outfield player.
Jordan was sent off against Coleraine on Boxing Day
The IFA were able to assemble together an appeal panel who informed us late on Friday evening that our obvious error challenge was rejected. Our request for more information on the decision making process, the minutes of the meeting and the make up of the panel, was denied on the grounds of 'confidentiality'. Unfortunately this left us in a position that Jordan missed Saturday's game against Glentoran.
We would like to thank Coleraine's assistance in this matter for swiftly providing the video evidence, and the IFA administrative staff for their help, but express our disappointment in the outcome. However, with the suspension having now been served we consider the matter now closed.
