BALLYMENA United are delighted to announce the signing of Ross Lavery from Cliftonville. The left sided 22-year-old comes to the Showgrounds on a three year deal following seven seasons coming up through the ranks at Solitude.
Manager David Jeffrey, having concluded the signing last weekend, was delighted to be able to finally reveal the good news to supporters, "Absolutely delighted to confirm the signing of Ross Lavery. He has been a player we have watched for a number of seasons, brought to our attention by head scout Paul McAreavey who knows Ross off the pitch as well as on it. What is clear is that we have a young man of great character and integrity, who for one reason or another wasn't able to get as much opportunity as he liked, and that's similar to a number of the players we have brought in, that the situation they found themselves in previously just didn't work out.

When we sorted things out with Cliftonville and had the opportunity to meet and speak with Ross, we have brought in a young man who is tremendously versatile and can play left side and in the middle. We have signed a great player and an absolutely outstanding young gentleman."

Lavery spoke during the warm up session for the players ahead of the Europa preparation game against Barry Town United, "The style of football and how they approach big games attracted me to the club. It's an opportunity to start a new chapter for me and get stuck in on the pitch. I want to push hard and get my starting place, make my mark, grab some goals and see what else comes of the season. I know a few of the team very well, Jude Winchester, Ryan Mayse, Adam Lecky and Scot Whiteside and a few others and am looking forward to training and getting ready for the season with them."
Ross Lavery will take squad number 28.
