Manager David Jeffrey has trailed the player for quite some time and was grateful to get the deal completed ahead of the New Year, "we are absolutely delighted with the signing of Jordan, after all we have been tracking him for over a year and a half. Initially for Jordan it was about finishing the year with PSNI and then deciding where he wanted to go, but given our circumstances we were clear with Jordan that he would be coming here to give greater competition to the position and not to warm a bench. When we had the injury to Ross we were in the situation of having two younger goalkeepers, and our concern was never about ability but more about experience. Jordan had offers from several clubs and the fact he chose to progress his career at Ballymena United is most pleasing.
Obviously today we had Ross back, which was great to see, so we have allowed Ben (McCauley) to go out to PSNI. Tom was most unwell on Boxing Day and how he got through that game was incredible and down to the good attention of Dr Brian Patterson. He was still feeling the after effects of that today and so we got the all clear on Ross and he played today and did very well. Now Jordan coming in gives us incredible strength and depth in a specialist position. We don't have players in our squad to warm benches, in any position, now it is up to each of the goalkeepers to work hard and push each other on to higher levels.
I need to say thanks to Paul McAreavey and Bryan McLoughlin who both put in the work on this move, and of course our medical team of Dr Patterson and Gary Crosbie. Finally, thanks to Jordan who made himself available to come straight after playing the PSNI match today to complete the medical and the move."
Williamson, 23, was pleased to finally get his move to the Showgrounds completed, "obviously coming to a Premiership club has been an aim and I'm thankful to David and Bryan for finally getting me after this time. I was aware of their interest in the last couple of season and have been training with Alan (Simpson) a couple of times, so I know a bit about them and hopefully they know a lot about me.
I know quite a few of the players already and so I'm raring to go and looking forward to getting into the changing room and being part of the team. Off the pitch I may come across as quite a quiet person but I let my football do the speaking."
