Ryan Harpur - further news

FOLLOWING last night's breaking news, we are delighted to further announce that Ryan Harpur will join the Club with immediate effect.
After Ballymena United reached an agreement with Dungannon Swifts, and after the successful completion of a medical this evening, Ryan Harpur will now be eligible to pull on the Sky Blue kit in January.
Harpur, a former Everton trainee, joins on a two and a half year deal following more than six seasons with Dungannon Swifts. Supporters will remember only too well that he captained the Swifts to League Cup victory last season against Ballymena United.
Manager David Jeffrey was please to be able to move to bring Harpur in January, "obviously last evening we agreed terms with Ryan to join. Our hope was to get him in this window but we weren't sure, so we took an opportunity to speak to Kris Lindsay, and the chairmen have spoken with an agreement reached to allow him to join now. All things being equal he will now be available for selection from the 1st January.
I can say now how really pleased Bryan and I are to have brought Ryan to the Club. He brings something different, he's technically very good, he goes forward and scores goals but he's also steely and solid in the middle. In terms of profiling he's a bit older than the other players we have brought in but as good a player he is, we all agree that he can be even better again and we'll work hard to make him the best that he can be.
I'm delighted with the response already last night from the supporters, that is first class to hear when we've worked hard to bring quality players into the club, so thank you for that."
Harpur was pleased to meet the squad this evening and is raring to go in January, "for one Ballymena United are top of the league, but the main reason for coming here is David Jeffrey. I've always admired him from afar and to have the chance to work with him, I couldn't turn down that opportunity. I'm particularly looking forward to link up with Ryan Mayse again, it's only been six months but I've missed him and I know some of the other boys as well so there'll be no problem there.
Obviously the team is flying and there's a lot of good players here so I'm looking forward to playing with them and taking it from there. I've always played well at the Showgrounds, I've scored a hat trick here and always seem to manage to nick the odd goal, so hopefully that continues."
