Mayse extends United deal

IT is with great pleasure that Ballymena United can confirm that Ryan Mayse has signed a year's extension to his contract.
Having originally signed on a one-year deal from Dungannon Swifts in the summer, the 24-year-old has enjoyed a strong start to the season having appeared in all games to date, and picking up a couple of goals along the way.
Manager David Jeffrey, who was full of praise for Mayse, was very happy to reveal the news earlier today, "I'm delighted to inform our supporters that Ryan Mayse has signed an extension to his contract by a further season. The background to Ryan signing is pretty simple, we moved quickly to speak to him when we were made aware of his availability but the logistics of his travelling was always going to be something that we just had to see how he found it and how he settled in. We agreed a one-year deal initially to allow time for Ryan to come in and see how he progressed, to get to know Bryan and myself and how we work at Ballymena United.
Thus far he has had a most impressive pre-season and has carried that on into the season itself. The majority of our other players were primarily recruited on two year contracts and this week we asked if he would like to extend his contract and fall in line with everyone else - negotiations took less than a minute, which is evidence of how he feels he has settled here.
To say we are very pleased is an understatement, he is a cracking young man with a great personality as everyone can see. He works desperately hard for the team and it's great that he has committed to a further year at Ballymena United."
