Injury updates & suspensions

DAVID Jeffrey has given the website an update on injuries ahead of the game against Cliftonville tomorrow.
"In all of my career I have made a point of not referring to injuries and suspensions prior to games, partly not to reveal squad information to the opposition, but mainly to focus on the players who are in the squad by right and not to sound like we're making excuses before we kick a ball.
However, in the interest of open communication with the supporters here is where we are with injuries to date: -
  • Jonathan McMurray has had two scans on a groin problem. He played through some pain in pre season but the Portadown game showed that he needed treatment and rest. We have no timescale but hopefully we will see him sooner or later.
  • Leroy Millar obviously went off with a calf injury against Crusaders but the good news is that he returned to training last night.
  • Caolan Loughran has had a hip causing him some pain and just needed rest to let it heal, and he returned to training last night.
  • Stephen McAlorum was carrying a niggling calf injury and again after appropriate treatment he's returned to training.
  • Kevin Braniff has been recovering from a hamstring strain, and he also returned to training last night.
  • Finally, Jake McNeill has returned to training after taking some time to allow a knee injury to heal.
  • Obviously we missed Andrew Burns on Tuesday night and, although he's available tomorrow, he will be suspended for the next two games. This is most unfortunate and unfair on him as he was clearly fouled in the run up to the incident and somehow the referee missed this, as he did the clear foul against us in the build up to giving Linfield a penalty.
We continue to work hard in training and with the above all returning around the same time we look to keep on building the team mentality as we strive to keep doing the things we are doing well and address the mistakes that we need to cut out.
Tomorrow we want to build on Tuesday's result and once again, as always, we know the supporters will get behind the team."
