THE PSNI have asked us to convey the following information regarding the match against Linfield on Saturday.
1. Ballymena Fans travelling to the Danske Bank Premiership match at the National Stadium (Windsor Park) for the 1500 hours kick-off on Saturday 17th December 2016 are requested to approach the National Stadium from Glenmachan Street/Boucher Road. Entry to the North Stand will be via the turnstiles/gate on Olympia Drive.
2. Those travelling by car are requested to approach the Stadium from the Glenmachan Street/Boucher Road direction and park in the commercial areas off Boucher Road. Motorists should consider local business and emergency vehicle access when deciding where and how to park. Once parked they should move on foot via Tates Avenue/Olympia Parade/Olympia Drive and enter the ground via the Olympia Drive turnstiles.
3. Those travelling by Bus/Coach are also requested to approach from Glenmachan Street/Boucher Road and park the coaches/buses in the old Belfast City Council Olympia Leisure Centre car park. Buses can lie up in the leisure centre car park and fans should make their way on foot to the Olympia Drive turnstiles using the pedestrian gate past the all-weather pitches taking a right turn onto Olympia Drive and thus to the turnstiles at Olympia Drive.
4. Those travelling by train should leave the train at Adelaide Halt and move to the Stadium via Apollo Road/Boucher Road/Tates Avenue/Olympia Parade to the Olympia Drive turnstiles. Route back to Adelaide is the reverse.
5. Police are reminding fans that there are specific offences created by the Justice Act NI 2011 in relation to soccer matches: -

  • Possession of Fireworks/Flares etc.
  • Throwing Articles capable of causing injury
  • Going on to the Playing area
  • Sectarian Chanting
  • Drinking on Passenger Carrying Vehicles
  • 6. In addition all fans are reminded that the areas around the Stadium are "No Street Drinking" zones under Belfast City Council By-Laws. Any Street drinking taking place will be dealt with and any alcohol found seized.
    7. Any public indecency offences such as urinating in public will be robustly dealt with.
    8. Maximum Use of CCTV, Landrover Roof Top and Hand Held Video Evidence Equipment will be made both inside and outside the Stadium as part of the Policing Operation Criminal Justice Strategy in an effort to deal with any offences which come to light. Police will take all steps to identify and deal with anyone who has been or is committing offences.
    9. It is important for supporter and community safety that these instructions are complied with and that the impact of the event on the local residential and business communities is minimised.

It is hoped that a common sense approach to the afternoon will be adopted and the occasion enjoyed by all.
